Donor Appreciation Night - Free to All 2010 Donors!

To thank our wonderful 2010 donors, we are planning a Donor Appreciation Night to take place in early 2011.  The event will be a dressy evening with drinks and dessert, with no entry fee for those who have supported us this past year with donations, no matter how small.

If you have been planning to support Camp Alvernia with a donation this year, now is the time.  It’s hard to believe, but 2011 is just around the corner!  As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, all donations to Camp Alvernia are tax-deductible, which can provide advantages tax-wise.  Please see below for more information on the special ways Camp Alvernia supports your community.

We are in the process of securing sponsors for Donor Appreciation Night, which promises to be a great opportunity for a business or individual who wants to help us recognize the many special people who support Camp Alvernia.  Please contact me if you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring this special event.

Owned and operated by the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, Camp Alvernia recently celebrated 122 years as a non-profit youth development organization.  In addition to serving well over 800 children every summer, Camp Alvernia employs over 165 people from the community and provides scholarships to local families in need. Brother Robert LaFave Memorial Scholarship Fund
Over 100 children came to camp on scholarship in 2010.  A scholarship means tremendous growth for a child and the freedom for parents to work to make ends meet. Consider joining the hundreds of donors who have made this vital program possible.

A-Way Team
This past year, we began a community service team made up of hundreds of local parents and campers who participated in missions serving the poor and elderly locally, as well as children in Haiti affected by the recent earthquake. Please consider helping this important program continue.

Staff with Special Needs
It has been five years since we first began hiring staff with special needs here at Alvernia. We also hire job coaches to help them learn how to take care of job responsibilities.  This program is groundbreaking, and we ask your help to ensure it continues for years to come.

Pool Expansion Project
Learning to swim is a necessary life skill, especially in our community.  We are planning to add two new pools, including a wading pool just for our 4-7 year olds.  We welcome your support for this important project.
