A-Way Team Mission #2: Project HOPE

Our next A-Way Team mission is in support of Project HOPE, a volunteer organization that serves the poor in the Huntington area.  We will be serving at one of their “Sunday Suppers”, a twice-monthly sit-down meal that is offered to the poor, the elderly, and the unemployed.

Details
Date: Sunday January 10
Time:  Some needed at 1pm, some needed at 3:15pm, done by 6pm
Location: St. Hugh of Lincoln, 21 E 9th St, Huntington Sta, NY
Tasks: Setup, Welcoming, Serving, Cleanup

This mission is not for very young children, as there aren’t many tasks they’ll be able to assist with.  Most tasks should be suitable for those currently in 5th grade and up.  We’ll also need adult volunteers!

What’s great about the Sunday Supper is that these people in need are invited in, greeted with a smile, and served a nice hot meal by volunteers who care.  These meals are so valuable to those who are downtrodden, especially now that the weather is getting colder.

Please let us know if you and your camper(s) would like to volunteer.  Email us ASAP, as spots are limited!
